The planned rehabilitation of the runway of Kutaisi International Airport has started. During the rehabilitation period, for 2 weeks (October 10-24 inclusive), flights will be operated from Tbilisi Airport.
In January-September 2022, Kutaisi International Airport has the highest rate of passenger flow restoration among the three international airports. Along with the increase of flights, due to the safety of the flights, it became necessary to carry out scheduled repair works of the runway. As part of the rehabilitation, the works of strengthening the foundation and laying the asphalt cover on the runway will be carried out.
The budget of the rehabilitation project is 8 million GEL, which is covered by the Kutaisi Airport operator company – the Association of Airports of Georgia from its own revenues. Rehabilitation works are carried out by the construction company Black Sea Group.
